Adults With Asperger, Real Empowerment (AWARE) is a non-clinical/non-medical support group for adults (over 22) who are medically or self-diagnosed with Asperger or High-functioning Autism. This group was started because of a lack of community based support for socially functioning adults who would benefit from conversing with other adults in a similar situation. If you are interested in a loosely structured outing to build a support network, join us and get ready for your first meetup.
This group is built around support groups for adults with Asperger's Syndrome, Autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorder- NOS, nonverbal learning disabilities and other similar social-affecting learning disabilities. In addition to support groups in Chicago and Evanston, this site will also feature other support groups and social opportunities for adults on the autism spectrum in Chicago and its suburbs. I welcome relatives, professionals, and other friends of adults on the autism spectrum to joi …
This is a group to bring together local young adults with Asperger’s as well as the people in their lives that wish to offer support. Our community offers many great outlets and resources for adults with disabilities, but unfortunately there are not many local social groups that cater to young adults with Asperger’s. I hope to create an opportunity where our loved ones can interact with each other, make new friends, and feel comfortable in the company of others with similar challenges. Most impo …

Whether he/she is formally diagnosed with Asperger's or not, forming a partnership with an individual who displays these traits can be challenging for a non-Aspie (neurotypical) partner. I started this group because I was looking for support for p …

Having a child with Aspergers is challenging and overwhelming. It is extremely beneficial to talk with others who can share your struggles and help you to realize you are not alone! This group is specifically for moms with Aspergers kids! The purpose is to learn, share, support and encourage each other.
While there are groups in the Chicago area for Adults with Asperger's and for Parents of Kids on the Autism Spectrum, I couldn't find a group focused on Parents of Kids with Asperger's. There is so much variance among kids on the Spectrum, that I thought it would be great to meet parents dealing with the specific issues raised by Asperger's. The purpose of the group is to create a community where parents of "Aspies" can support one another and exchange ideas and opinions on everything from schoo …
